SUCCESS IN CHINATOWN- 400+ Vaccine Appointments booked for Chinatown’s Elderly
The COVID Foundation in partnership with WGIRLS INC (501(c)3), Chinatown Partnership, Chinatown Business Improvement District (BID), Welcome to Chinatown, and East Side were able to secure vaccination appointments for over 600 Chinatown residents. Our efforts have been cited by the New York Times as one of the reasons Asians American are now one of the most vaccinated demographics in NYC.

CHINATOWN COMMUNITY IMMUNITY INITIATIVE - VACCINE APPOINTMENT ASSISTANCE
The Vaccinate Chinatown Initiative's goal is to help NYC's Chinatown reach herd immunity by providing vaccine booking assistance to residents in need. Over 50% of Chinatown residents are low income and do not even have access to Wi-Fi. Currently Chinatown has only an 18% vaccination rate compared to Manhattan's 40% average. Language barriers, lack of internet access and poor marketing initiatives is severely crippling Chinatown’s elderly’s ability to schedule these vaccination appointments.
With your help, we will help community residents and small business employees schedule vaccine appointments. We are organizing bilingual volunteers on the ground who can aid in helping schedule these vaccination appointments and make Chinatown a safe place to visit again.
